Cleo wasn’t grooming herself out of anxiety; her immune system was in overdrive.
In cats, environmental allergens often present with respiratory symptoms, similar to human asthma. But the most tell-tale sign of feline atopy is intense facial scratching. Here is the part where most well-intentioned owners fail: the diet must be strictly adhered to for 8 to 12 weeks. That means absolutely no treats, no flavored medications, no dental chews, and certainly no dropped French fries from the kids in the back seat. One slip-up can reset the entire allergic cascade.
